Todd to back Potter with these two massive signings in January – Report
Thomas Tuchel received strong support from Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, during the summer transfer window, when the team spent over £270 million on new additions.
However,Thomas Tuchel was fired on Wednesday as a result of what appears to be a falling out between Todd Boehly and him.
In the January transfer window, Todd Boehly is now prepared to treat Graham Potter with the same kindness.
According to reports, Chelsea would try to strengthen the midfield in January.
Chelsea’s midfield seems lightweight, as N’Golo Kante continues to struggle with injuries. Mateo Kovacic hasn’t gained full match sharpness, while Jorginho is out of form.
Both Kante and Jorginho are out of contract next summer, while deadline day signing Denis Zakaria’s loan deal expires at the end of the season.
Chelsea tried to sign Edson Alvarez during the summer, but the Blues saw a £43m bid for the midfielder rejected in the final week of the transfer window.
Chelsea could yet make a move for Alvarez in January.
Also, if Kepa Arrizabalaga finds a club in January, Chelsea could also look to sign a backup goalkeeper in the winter transfer window.
