Emerson highlights the reason for United defeat
The 25-year-old had a pretty impressive game vs United taking three shots on goal and delivering reliable performance in the backline.
However, it is the backline that did cost the Blues dearly, he thinks:
“For 60, 65 minutes we had a good game. And then, the result, for me, doesn’t say what the match was,” Emerson Palmieri told ESPN Brasil.
“We had three, four chances to score. Two balls on the crossbar. At least one goal we had to score. We knew about their quick counter-attack. Of course, they also have their merit. But there’s also our lack of attention. Could have defended better, could have been more attentive.”
Emerson Palmieri joined Chelsea in January 2018 from Roma, when Antonio Conte was still in charge of the club. The Italian did not play much but still took part in the Blues’ triumphant FA Cup campaign.
In 2018/19, Emerson managed to compete with Marcos Alonso and was awarded a starting spot in the Europa League final where he assisted Olivier Giroud to score the first goal against Arsenal.
