“So sad he’s out for the next three games” – Enzo Maresca confirms fresh injury news
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed some shock new injury news to one of his players ahead of Leeds tonight.
Chelsea have the task of going to relegation battlers Leeds United in their next Premier League match tonight, and former Blues player Emmanuel Petit has predicted that his old team will beat Leeds tonight, with a goal or two from Cole Palmer.
The Blues boss has also been speaking about the message he has sent to his players in the wake of more title talk brewing up for the club, ahead of the game tonight.
Chelsea will be without Moises Caicedo tonight due to being suspended after getting sent off against Arsenal on Sunday night.
People have been speculating who might come in and cover him, with one name coming up. Dario Essugo is a direct replacement for Caicedo and he had been seen back in full training recently.
Essugo will not be able to cover Caicedo tonight though, or in his next three games, because he has suffered an injury setback upon his return to training.
Maresca confirmed the bad news in his pre-match press conference for Leeds yesterday, and further went into details in the embargoed section of the press conference that came out late last night.
Maresca on Essugo
As cited by The Evening Standard, Maresca said on Essugo:
“For sure, he [Essugo] is not available for the next three games. I don’t think [it is serious]. We need to check him, as it happened yesterday. Unfortunately it was just yesterday so I don’t know.”
