Chelsea set to make Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell their top January target transfer in case CAS will satisfy the clubs appeal and lift the transfer ban in few days.
This is according to a claim made by the reputable media outlet The Athletic. The source within the club has revealed that Frank Lampard is eager to solve left-back position issues and Chilwell would be a perfect answer.
If the Foxes player will not be available for a transfer this January, Lampard could turn to Valencia’s Jose Gaya as an alternative target.
If they decide to go for the Spaniard, Chelsea will likely face competition from Mna United.
It is likely that the Blues will have to switch focus form Chilwell to Gaya. According to Evening Standard, Leicester City are determined to reject any Chelsea’s attempt to sign the defender Ben Chilwell in January.
Chilwell is tied to the club with a long-term contract until 2024. Moreover, the club look to improve Chilwell’s existing deal soon by offering him wages beyond £100,000 a week.
Leicester value their key defender in excess of £60m and will not even consider offers below that mark.
