Abramovich admires him a-lot! as Blues ready to pay 100m+ for player after agent confirms possible departure
According to AS via Football London, Chelsea are willing to pay £102million to sign highly-rated Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Aftee failing to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla during the summer transfer window, the Blues have identified De Ligt as a key transfer for the club with Thiago Silva out of contract at the club at the end of the season.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants the club to sign a quality and young centre-back to compliment the experience the Blues currently have at the back.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich highly admires De Ligt, who is under contract with Juventus until June 2024.
De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola recently spoke about his future at Juventus amid interest from Chelsea.
When asked about two of his clients, De Ligt and AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli recently, Raiola told Tuttosport: “The two are among the best defenders in Europe.
“De Ligt has a contract, while Romagnoli ends his contract in 2022.
“I think they could play together in Turin, but watch out: Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He could leave Juve at the end of the season. The market works like this.”
