Abramovich has decided who he wants to lead the Chelsea front-line after a disappointing season for his strikers this season.

Last night, against Tottenham Hotspur, at Wembley, Chelsea had the majority of the game but, once again, struggled to break down an opposing defence.

Our lack of a world-class striker, something we’ve not had since Diego Costa returned to La Liga, continues to cost us dearly.

With the January transfer window now open, Chelsea, if they want to ensure they remain in the hunt for silverware this season, have to address the situation.

Several names have been mentioned, Higuain, Cavani and Wilson to name but three.

However, today, courtesy of the tabloid news source, the Mirror is a piece of speculation that has grabbed my attention and I hope will grab yours.

Our referenced source is reporting that our owner, Roman Abramovich, has ear-marked exactly who he wants Chelsea to sign.

At the top of our owners wish-list is the insinuation that the Argentine striker, currently on the books of Inter Milan, Mauro Icardi is the player Abramovich wants.

The 25-year-old is, no doubt, a world-class striker and to tempt Inter Milan to sell, Chelsea may have to cough up a fee of at least £100 million.

Let’s hope it is a deal that is based on solid foundations and can be completed.
