The Chelsea board won’t be happy with Frank Lampard’s decision to stick with Willy Caballero in goal for Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United.
This is according to Manchester United legend Gary Neville.
Neville acknowledged Lampard has been placed in a difficult position given the form of Kepa Arrizabalaga, but believes a bold call is unlikely to be appreciated by the Chelsea board.
Neville also noted Lampard is devaluing Kepa Arrizabalaga and the board won’t be happy about it.
It’s a big risk from Frank, he’s (Caballero) obviously not the long-term solution so you’re essentially devaluing a £70million player,’ Neville said while co-commentating on Sky Sports.
“You have to make big decisions as a manager and that’s what Frank Lampard has done but I don’t think it will be a popular one with the powers that be here.”
