Lampard sends ‘Blunt’ message to Batshuayi after United loss

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi got the nod to start against Manchester United, with Tammy Abraham injured, while Olivier Giroud was left on the bench.

Batshuayi failed to make impact all through the game and was subbed off in the 68th minute, with Giroud coming on to make impact. The Frenchman even scored a goal which was marginally ruled out for offside.

Speaking about Batshuayi’s struggles, Lampard blamed it on a lack of confidence as he said: “Confidence is part of football.

The only way you get over confidence [issues] is by dedication and hard work. Every player will go through it no matter who you are. The only way to get through it is hard work.”

Lampard was also displeased with his wingers and he believes that they are not doing enough to score goals and hurt opponents.

The Chelsea boss said: “It’s a reality that’s getting clearer all the time. We’re not getting enough goals from striker areas, we’re not getting enough goals from wide areas.

“Not many teams can keep clean sheets week in, week out. You have to score goals to give you a feeling of superiority in the game.”
