Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu started for RB Leipzig in their Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur in north London, and impressed against the Blues’ rivals

He may not be playing at Chelsea at the moment, but Blues fans have been very impressed with the performance of Ethan Ampadu against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Welsh international started at the heart of the RB Leipzig defence in the absence of Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Dayot Upamecano, with the German side winning 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie.

Ampadu was part of a makeshift back line for Leipzig, who had problems defensively due to injuries and suspensions, but he managed to help shackle Tottenham’s attack.

Spurs were without the injured Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, but they struggled to create chances, with Ampadu particularly impressive during the game.

And his performance has certainly got Chelsea fans talking, and waxing lyrical about the 19-year-old.
