“Absolutely disappointed with him” – Pochettino slams Chelsea star despite 2-1 win over Brighton

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed his annoyance over Chelsea captain Reece James’ red card against Brighton.

James will now miss Chelsea’s last game of the season due to the red card.

Reece James’s red card almost cost the squad, as Chelsea had a comfortable 2-0 lead that was on the verge of being tied.

With barely two minutes remaining in regular time, the Chelsea captain gave a stern look to Brighton star Joao Pedro and was sent out following a VAR check.

James was sent out for aggressive conduct after just 17 minutes of play; this is his second offense, therefore he will miss four games as a result.

“It’s difficult to give my opinion because I didn’t have time to see the action,” Pochettino said after Chelsea’s win away at Amex.

“Maybe it’s the frustration of him. But, yes, painful. Painful because it was a fantastic night of football and he’s our captain and a really important player.

“I’m disappointed because now he’s going to miss the next game and maybe a few games in next season.”
