Arsenal legend Paul Merson is really a Chelsea fan, the club confirmed after Burnley win

Arsenal legend Paul Merson is really a Chelsea fan, the club finally confirmed

Despite being an Arsenal legend, Paul Merson is a Chelsea fan and the club have confirmed it in the past.

Before Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Burnley yesterday, Paul Merson took to Twitter to share a picture of himself in the Sky Sports studio with the caption “come on you Blues”.

Given his connection to Arsenal, many were confused after seeing the tweet.

However, in one of Chelsea’s matchday programmes from last season, Merson shared his love for the Blues and confirmed that he does indeed support the club.

There is no doubt, then, that Merson would have been delighted with what he saw from Mauricio Pochettino’s men yesterday afternoon.

It was probably the club’s most convincing win in a while after they managed to put four past Burnley.

At the heart of that win was Raheem Sterling, who was involved in the first three goals.

The winger forced Ameen Al-Dakhil to turn the ball into his own net, won a penalty and then scored to make it 3-1.

The England international now looks to be back to his best. Hopefully it is more of the same when Chelsea take on Merson’s former side Arsenal after the international break.

It is not going to be an easy game, with the Gunners flying these days under Mikel Arteta. But Chelsea are at home and are slowly improving under Pochettino, who now probably just needs a big win to fully convince Chelsea supporters. Will it come on 21 October? We certainly hope so.
