AS Roma Set to sign Zappacosta with an option to buy

AS Roma want to take Davide Zappacosta on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, the Italian outlet Il Tempo report.

According to the media, Gialorossi can’t afford to buy out the defender at this time and Chelsea asking price is too high. However, Roma are in dire need of a right-back, so they look for a compromise.

It is reported that Chelsea director Marina Granovskaya is currently evaluating the offer – no decision has been made as of yet.

Blues manager Frank Lampard has not ruled out a move for Zappacosta before the transfer window closes in Italy on 23 August.

“That’s not clear yet. Zappacosta is our player,” Lampard said as cited by the Chelsea official website.

“Reece [James] is injured and will potentially be another two or three weeks until he’s back. That’s a decision that will be made as we go on.”

Chelsea ideally want €25m for the player.a
