Bakayoko: ‘I want Champions League football I don’t want to leave Chelsea’

Chelsea outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko allegedly stalls his decision on whether to join Ligue 1 side Monaco on a year-long loan.

The French media L’Equipe reports that the player wants to feature in Champions League season and still hopes for an offer from the side qualified for the competition.

Bakayoko has spent the last season at AC Milan and failed to impress Frank Lampard upon his return to the Blues during the pre-season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Everton were previously interested to take the midfielder on loan. However, eventually, both clubs opted for other options — Idrissa Gueye and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, respectively.

As Bakayoko still deliberates on his loan to Monaco, the French side could run out of patience.

After all, they were the team that put the midfielder on the map. It was his performance in the Monaco team that has led to his Chelsea transfer for €40m.

However, now Bakayoko hesitates whether to return there over some Champions League ambitions. Meanwhile, returning to his roots might be just what his career needs right now.
