It looks like Chelsea could be making a crucial signing this summer after Alex Telles reportedly rejected a fresh agreement with Porto, according to A Bola (via the Daily Mail).

Telles only has 14 months left on his current contract and the Blue and Whites are happy to cash in on the wantaway defender in the summer. Although the left-back has a release clause of £33.5 million, the report claims Porto are willing to accept £20 million as they do not want to let him leave on a free transfer.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is on the hunt for new left-back options as there are still questions over Marcos Alonso and Emerson remains out-of-favour.

If Emerson is allowed to leave this summer, Telles could be the perfect replacement. The dead-ball specialist has made 22 appearances in Liga NOS this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists. His pass success percentage stands at an impressive 79% (WhoScored).

The Blues have also been monitoring Leicester defender Ben Chilwell, who has attracted interest from Premier League rivals City and Spurs (The Times).

Many fans have gone wild over the latest links to Telles, with one claiming he is a “better player than Ben Chilwell.” Indeed, Chilwell’s pass success percentage is slightly lower at 78.2% (WhoScored). With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the reaction.

@GMACFC: Would be an unreal signing! People who say he is to old are deluded we need a mix of experience, quality and youth to take this team forward! Absolute no brainier 🙌🏻
@aimarakhmat: Our board has been on the ball with Ziyech and now pursuing Telles
