Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has opened up and announced he is delighted with the deal that sees him make the loan move to West Brom
The 20-year-old is regarded very highly at Stamford Bridge and they have big hopes for his future, but with all the attacking quality that the club have in the side right now, the decision was made to send him out on-loan.
Speaking after he signed a new contract with the club and made the move to West Brom, England U-21 international Gallagher said on the club website: “There was a lot of interest from the Premier League, which is where I wanted to play this season, but this is where I want to be.
“West Brom stood out to me because of the way they played last season. “I played against them two or three times and I liked how they approached the game. “I felt that it would suit me and it would be best for my development. I felt it could help me become the player I want to be and I’m pleased to get this agreement sorted.
“I spoke to Slaven Bilic the other day just to see how things stood and I liked what I heard and how he wanted me to play. “It all made sense to me and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
Stopper Edouard Mendy is ready to make the step up to Chelsea, but he will not be made immediate number one fans have been told.
It is no secret that Lampard is desperate to add another stopper to the squad in the final weeks of the transfer window, and we have agreed to bring the big Edouard Mendy to the club in a deal that will cost the club £27 million.
But French football expert Jonathan Johnson doesn’t reckon Mendy will immediately displace the Spanish shot-stopper as No1, but he will feel very confident that he is capable of taking that spot off Kepa.
He told Sky Sports: “I think he feels ready now for the step up to the Premier League.
“I’m not certain he will be expecting to walk straight into the Chelsea starting XI. “But he will feel confident that he can pressure on for that starting berth in goal. “And i think his greater consistency could be his key asset in perhaps dislodging Kepa between the sticks.”
Chelsea star Timo Werner will prove to be the best signing of the summer, reckons Rio Ferdinand.
Regarded as one of the finest talents in the game right now, Werner has been linked to some of the biggest clubs over the past few seasons as his stock in the game continues to rise on a yearly basis. But we that made the offer to get a deal done and then convinced the German to make the move to London, which has got many of the fans excited about the amount of goals he could bring to the side.
The German forward looked lively on his debut against Brighton and is set to shake off a knock to face Liverpool on Saturday night, and now Ferdinand has opened up and suggested that the young man could turn out to be the best signing of the summer.
“I’m going to go for Werner,” said former Man United and England star Ferdinand on the TalkSport website “He looked sharp against Brighton and I saw him against Spain the other day – he tore them one.”
Ferdinand is also excited to see Hakim Ziyech – another new arrival – after speaking with his manager Frank Lampard about his talents.
He said: “You know what, I spoke to Frank the other day about Ziyech and he said: ‘His passing is ridiculous’. “I’m looking to see them passes when he cuts with his left foot and has the likes of Mason Mount, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, etc all making runs – and I think Ziyech will be putting it on a plate for these boys.”
