Big news from France – Powerhouse ‘has passed his medical’ ahead of Chelsea announcement

Reports in France suggest that Axel Disasi has now passed his medical ahead of becoming a Chelsea player.

CHELSEA have done some great transfer business this summer and added some very good attacking players – but Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add a full-back to the side after the injury to Wesley Fofana and the departure of Cesare Azpilicueta.

That has led to so much speculation about who the Blues could sign this transfer window – but now it seems that Chelsea are about to complete another summer signing.

The Blues have agreed to pay £38.57million for the Frenchman.

The move for Disasi follows the news that Wesley Fofana has suffered an ACL injury and will be out for the upcoming campaign.

Disasi was also heavily linked with Newcastle and Manchester United, but he is set to become the latest addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Having previously been capped at Under-20 level, he became the first Frenchman to make his debut at a World Cup since 1966 when he featured in the 1-0 group-stage loss to Tunisia in Qatar.

Pochettino wants Disasi has back-up following another injury blow to Wesley Fofana.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

He said: “With Fofana’s injury, I think it is obvious that maybe we need to reinforce this area.”

Pochettino added: “I don’t know [about more new signings] because if I say numbers I can create a problem.

“For me, it’s important the club is working really hard to improve all of the areas – the right profiles to make the squad strong.”
