The Blues fought off a strong start from Blackburn and eventually won comfortably on a rainy night at Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea got back on track with a comfortable 2-0 win over Championship side Blackburn Rover, ensuring progression into the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The returning Benoit Badiashile opened the scoring after Conor Gallagaher and Reece James had threatened earlier on without success.
Badiashile was making only marking his first game under Mauricio Pochettino having missed the pre-season and first part of the season
Meanwhile Blackburn Rover head coach has named Chelsea new signing Cole palmer as the danger man for Chelsea.
