Blues ‘open to a swap deal’ with Barcelona as board consider to let two Chelsea players to leave club

Chelsea are apparently open to a transfer involving Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, who are both keen to join Barcelona this summer.

Both Azpilicueta and Alonso are anxious to follow in the footsteps of Blues defender Andreas Christensen, who has already secured a deal with Barcelona.

As Xavi attempts to rebuild his squad, the Catalan giants have been waiting for Chelsea to sell before starting talks on the defensive duo.

The Blues have the option to extend captain Azpilicueta’s deal for another year, while Alonso’s contract runs until the summer of 2023, therefore Thomas Tuchel’s side will be looking for compensation.

According to Sport.es, Chelsea are considering a swap deal involving defender Serginho Dest and goalkeeper Neto after considering a number of options rather than cashing in.

The Spaniards have been constants at Stamford Bridge since their arrival in 2016, with Alonso coming in 2016 and skipper Azpilicueta joining in 2012.

The two, on the other hand, are both keen to move to Barcelona this summer and could push the Blues to make a decision.

The LaLiga giants are optimistic in their ability to secure both Azpilicueta and Alonso, with rumors indicating that they might sign two or three-year contracts in Spain.

Both Chelsea and Barcelona are considering summer rebuilds, so the deal might make sense for both parties, especially since Dest and Neto are two of the LaLiga giants’ players who have been made available for transfer this summer.

Dest has made 31 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season, but has fallen out of favor, while shot-stopper Neto has only made four appearances.

With Christensen going Barcelona, Antonio Rudiger agreeing a deal with Real Madrid, and now the possibility of losing both Azpilicueta and Alonso, Tuchel will have his work cut out for him at Chelsea.
