BREAKING: Axel Disasi beats eight-year Chelsea record after 1-1 draw against Man city Man City

Chelsea defender, Axel Disasi was an influential figure during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Man City over the weekend.

However, The French defender was a literal wall for the Blues, making 16 clearances to preserve Chelsea’s lead for large parts of the game.

Unfortunately, Raheem Sterling’s goal for Chelsea wasn’t enough to win the tie, with Rodri netting a late equaliser for the hosts.

Axel Disasi has received lots of praise for his outstanding display for Chelsea as he was rock solid against Man City, and was even compared with ex-Chelsea skipper, John Terry by Liverpool great, Jamie Carragher.

According to Squawka, Disasi’s 16 clearances against City is also the most a Chelsea player has made in the last eight years, with the outlet also going further to brand the 25-year-old a ‘ball magnet in the box’.

Disasi joined Chelsea from French side, AS Monaco last summer. The centre-back has been criticised occasionally for his performances, but he was certainly impressive on Saturday, and deserves all the praise he’s received.
