BREAKING: Chelsea announce fourth summer signing after agreeing six-year deal with midfielder
With his fourth signing of the summer, Tuchel continues to strengthen Chelsea.
However, Carney Chukwuemeka has officially been acquired by Chelsea from Aston Villa, the team announced on Thursday.
The 18-year-permanent old’s transfer to Stamford Bridge was previously revealed by the London club as Thomas Tuchel continues to bolster his team in preparation for the 2022–23 Premier League season.
The club confirmed the deal via its official website: “Carney Chukwuemeka has agreed the terms of a six-year contract at Chelsea and completed his transfer from Aston Villa.
“It follows the announcement earlier this week that we had reached an agreement with Villa for the 18-year-old’s permanent switch to Stamford Bridge.”
On completing a move to Chelsea, an excited Chukwuemeka said: “It’s been quite hectic but I couldn’t get Chelsea out of my head the last few days so I’m just happy and relieved that it’s all done.
“I’m so excited and just can’t wait to get on the pitch, meet all the players and try to win games and trophies with Chelsea.”
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly said: “Carney is one of the most exciting young players in Europe so we are really looking forward to seeing him in action at Stamford Bridge.
“We are delighted to be able to bring him to Chelsea and add such a talented young individual to our squad for the new season and beyond.”
Chelsea’s deal for Chukwuemeka is believed to be worth an initial £15m, and other clauses could make the fee rise to above £20m.
Chelsea beat Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund to snap up this buzzing 18-year-old midfielder.
