This will come as a shock to many but a Chelsea player has been named as more valuable than Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
According to the latest data published by the CIES Football Observatory, a Swiss-based research organisation, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is more valuable than Messi.
Several parameters, including age, contract length, and on-field performances were taken into account while compiling the data.
Mount is named as the 19th most valuable player in the world with a value of €102.5million while PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is the most valuable player in the world, worth a staggering €259.2m.
Messi is reportedly worth €100.1m, less than Mount’s €102.5 million and this could be because Messi is set to turn 33 and has just about 12 months remaining on his current contract with Barcelona.
Mount has scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists this season in 41 appearances across all competitions this season so far.
