BREAKING: Chelsea player officially ends his four-year career with Chelsea
According to latest reports today, Chelsea have officially confirmed right-back Davide Zappacosta has today joined Atalanta on a permanent deal.
The Italian defender heads back to the club where he first played Serie A football, ending his four-year Chelsea career.
The 29-year-old defender joined the Blues in 2017 from Torino and has spent the past two seasons on loan in Serie A with Roma and Genoa.
Zappacosta had his medical this morning and completed the €10m deal, after Atalanta swooped to beat Fiorentina, who had only been prepared to sign him on loan with option to buy.
The right-back made a number of appearances for the Blues in pre-season but with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James above him in the pecking order at present, Thomas Tuchel has allowed Zappacosta to move on.
