BREAKING: Chelsea star signed a contract with Bayern Munich but later cancelled it on one condition

It has been revealed that Chelsea striker Timo Werner agreed a contract with Bayern Munich in the 2018/19 season to move as a free agent in 2020.

Werner, then with RB Leipzig, was on a contract that expired in 2020, and was eyeing a move away as a free agent.

This is according to media outlet Der Speigel, after they got their hands on documents from Werner’s agent, Karl-Heinz Forster that were made available for a lawsuit in Germany.

Werner backed out of the transfer after he found out that then Bayern manager Niko Kovač and sports director Hasan Salihamidžić weren’t keen on the transfer and signed a contract extension with RB Leipzig.

Then Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness finalised the transfer with Werner before the German international cancelled the contract.

The failed transfer of Werner to Bayern Munich became public through a million dollar dispute between Werner’s agent Karlheinz Förster (63) and his alleged former partner Murat Lokurlu (45), which is to be heard in court on September 28th.

Werner ended up staying at RB Leipzig, only to join Chelsea in the summer of 2020 but is yet to replicate his RB Leipzig goalscoring form.
