BREAKING: Chelsea Star signs three-year contract extension

 

Chelsea FC Women defender Maren Mjelde has signed a new three-year deal at Kingsmeadow which will see her remain with the South West Londoners until summer 2021 according to The Blues’ official website.

The 28-year-old Bergen born midfielder’s contract was set to expire this summer but the player has committed her future to The Blues for the long term.

Chelsea’s multi-national squad is set to be taken to the next level this summer with more international talent expected to arrive at the club and Norwegian star Mjelde is one overseas player who has already made a huge impact during her time at Kingsmeadow.

Mjelde joined Chelsea ahead of the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series and was the club’s second-highest appearance maker as the club lifted the FA Women’s Super League 1 title and SSE Women’s FA Cup this season.

The player has brought bags of experience with her to Chelsea with Mjelde having well over 100 Norwegian international caps to her name while she currently captains her country.

Mjelde started he career in her homeland with Arna-Bjornar before representing German club Turbine-Potsdam and Swedish outfit Goteborg. She temporarily returned to Norway where she represented Avaldsnes IL before making to decision to join Chelsea 18 months ago.
