BREAKING: Chelsea to appoint former Chelsea star as coach

Former Chelsea goalie Willy Caballero is expected to rejoin Enzo Maresca’s team at Stamford Bridge in a coaching role.

This comes after Caballero’s time as Leicester City’s assistant manager, where he was reunited with current head coach Maresca following their time together at Southampton.

Willy Caballero, 41, has had an accomplished playing career spanning more than 20 years, with standout periods at Chelsea and Manchester City.

From 2017 to 2021, he was a member of Chelsea’s team and helped them win the FA Cup, Europa League, and Champions League.

After retiring as a player, he moved into coaching, first joining Southampton in a non-playing role and later moving to Leicester City as Maresca’s assistant.

Caballero’s return to Chelsea is seen as a strategic move by the club to strengthen their coaching staff with experienced former players.

Enzo Maresca, known for his tactical acumen and previous role as an assistant coach at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, believes that Caballero’s firsthand experience and understanding of the club’s culture will be invaluable. This move is part of a broader effort by Chelsea to rebuild and enhance their technical team as they prepare for future challenges in both domestic and European competitions.

Caballero’s appointment is expected to bring a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to Chelsea’s coaching setup, contributing to the club’s ambitions of returning to the top of English and European football.
