REVEALED: When Chelsea will announce new Head Coach Enzo Maresca

By the end of the week, Chelsea Football Club hopes to have finalized an agreement for Enzo Maresca to take over as head coach of Leicester City. The club has officially approached the club about the position.

After an evaluation of the team’s season-long performance, Mauricio Pochettino amicably decided to part company with Chelsea last week. The club is currently looking for a replacement for him.

The two sporting directors of Chelsea, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, have been in charge of the search for Pochettino’s replacement. They have also evaluated the Argentine coach’s 2023–24 results. Chelsea qualified for Europe at the end of the season by finishing in sixth place.

Enzo Maresca has emerged as the leading candidate for the role after guiding Leicester City to promotion back to the Premier League in his first season at the helm. Chelsea’s approach to Leicester is aimed at securing permission to speak with Maresca, who is under contract at King Power Stadium until 2026.

Both clubs will need to agree on a compensation figure for Maresca, with discussions expected to take place in the coming days. Chelsea is prepared to offer Maresca a minimum two-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca brings a wealth of experience and a successful track record, having previously served as an assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he contributed to the team’s treble win in the 2022-23 season. His managerial style is heavily influenced by Guardiola, emphasizing possession-based football.

Before his current role at Leicester, Maresca had a brief managerial stint with Parma in Italy’s second tier and served as an assistant manager to Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United. His extensive playing career included spells at prominent clubs such as Juventus, Sevilla, and Olympiacos.
