Breaking news: Pochettino confirms Italian star can now play for Chelsea
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Cesare Casadei will be involved in Chelsea’s Premier League campaign at some point this season.
Casadei was recently recalled from a season-long loan spell with Leicester City after just six months.
The return of the 21-year-old has raised questions about the ability of some of the youngsters that Chelsea have signed in recent years to really compete at a top level, after teammates, Andrey Santos and Diego Moreira were also recalled from loan at Nottingham Forest and Lyon, respectively, but Pochettino has now stated that it could actually be a blessing in disguise.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg clash with Middlesbrough, the 51-year-old said: “We need to assess now, they have come back from their loan. They are going to be a part of our squad and then the decision will be if it’s going to be every game part of the team. It’s good news because we are suffering too many injuries and this is good for us.
“In pre-season, he worked really well. Yes, we hope he can help. Tomorrow it is not possible because he played with Leicester in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. But yes in the Premier League, maybe he can be involved.”
