According to Daily Mail, 2014 World Cup winner Jerome Boateng could join Chelsea in the summer with the 32 year old defender unhappy with Bayern Munich’s decision to fine him recently for breaking coronavirus guidelines.
The defender has claimed he was travelling to Leipzig to see his sick son, but Bayern still enforced the fine and that could push him further towards the exit door, with Chelsea interested in the former Manchester City centre-back.
Boateng is set to enter the final 12 months of his deal at Bayern Munich and his future appears uncertain with a new deal still to be agreed.
Premier League rivals Arsenal are also interested in Boateng and will battle Chelsea for the signature of the 32 year old defender.
Under Frank Lampard this season, the Blues have blooded several young defenders but with Chelsea’s poor defensive record this season, it is believed an experienced head could aid the development of the academy graduates.
Boateng joined Bayern Munich in 2011 and has lifted the Bundesliga title seven times. He also won the 2014 World Cup with Germany.
