Bring him back home? Fans start petition to get ex-Chelsea manager his job back as thousands have signed it

After Pochettino’s continued struggles at Chelsea, some Chelsea supporters want Tuchel back at the team.

However, Thousands of supporters have signed a petition to maintain Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel in his position.

After a dismal domestic season in which their 11-year dominance in the Bundesliga was ended by Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, the former Chelsea manager will be departing the team at the end of the current campaign, one year ahead of his contract expiration.

But before the season ends, the German powerhouses still have a chance to win a trophy when they play Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinals.

Due to Bayern’s improved league performance and European progress, supporters have started a petition to prevent the 50-year-old from leaving Bavaria, and more than 17,000 people have signed it to date.

With the club in talks to hire former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick, fans weren’t totally enthused with the potential managerial candidate with the petition’s statement reading: “FC Bayern decided to dismiss Thomas Tuchel in the summer after the defeat against VFL Bochum. What an atrocious decision!

“Thomas Tuchel, also known as ‘Juppel’, never had it easy in Munich. Despite the negative media coverage surrounding him and the personnel situation with the injury-plagued Munich team, the Champions League winner led his team to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

‘With all due respect to candidates like [Unai] Emery or Rangnick, these coaches can’t hold a candle to ‘Juppel.'” The German boss was asked about the petition but insisted he wouldn’t allow himself to be “influenced” by the passion of the supporters.

“Even though this topic is good for me when they [the fans] wish you to stay, it’s not something that is a priority,” said Tuchel. “It isn’t allowed to be a priority. In the next 11 days it’s only about football, nothing else. Whether it’s pleasant or unpleasant, I don’t allow myself to be influenced by it.”

Bayern host the Spanish giants on Tuesday (April 30) in the first leg of their tie before travelling to Madrid for the second leg next Wednesday (May 8).

Chelsea are yet to make decision on who to replace Pochettino at Chelsea as former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is among the list.
