Chelsea have just secured a deal for Timo Werner by the sounds of things.
It’s a massive coup for the club, as the German striker seemed certain to be on his way to Anfield. He’s one of the best strikers on the market this summer, and getting him could change everything for Frank Lampard’s team.
The praise has to go to Marina Granovskaia, the Chelsea director who is the boss of our negotiations and sporting strategy. Fans on social media have had their doubts in the past, but this is unquestionably a textbook “Marina Masterclass”, as they say.
On Chelsea Twitter they were going crazy for their idol, with some demanding the club “build Marina a statue.”
We wouldn’t go that far just yet, but if she can pull off an equally good deal for a left back, we might have to start drawing up designs.
