Many clubs are in the fight for a fourth place finish this season, as Frank Lampard’s side will have to contend with the likes of Manchester United, Sheffield United, Tottenham and even Wolves and Everton until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has warned that next season, his team will fight for a top four finish.
“I think the Champions League is a realistic target for Everton next season…yes it’s realistic,” he said.
“We have to improve the squad in the summer, but I do think with that it is realistic. What I am seeing now is the target is realistic.
“Seriously, I am not going to say we have to fight for the Champions League if I don’t feel that we have a possibility to do that, but I think we have the squad we have now, improving it in the summer, we can fight for the top places.
“How many players will it take? I don’t think it is a lot, you have no possibility to change a lot of players. I think it is possible with two or three of the right players we can compete.”
Ancelotti also revealed that the club board is ready to back him up in the transfer window during the summer.
