‘Almost fit’, Chelsea man provides a potential return date from injury

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has been on the sidelines with an ankle injury but the player has finally provided some good news.

The youngster was on a goal-scoring spree during the first half of the season but then he went on to pick up the injury in January and since then, he’s mostly spent time on the sidelines.

While Tammy Abraham brief substitute appearances against Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich but most of the time he’s been out of the squad and recently he once again pulled up during a warm-down training. And shortly after this fresh blow, Frank Lampard revealed that the player could be out for a lengthy time and that he had gone to Barcelona to consult specialists.

It seems like the specialist treatment in Spain seems to have worked since Tammy Abraham has now hinted that he is looking to make comeback this month itself – during the international break.

“Yes, definitely. I’m almost fit. There’s still a bit to do. I’ll get there soon,” Abraham told Evening Standard, as quoted.

“It’s a recurrence. [The problem was] playing on it and aggravating it even more. It is still like a swollen ball really but it is getting better day by day.

“This time, I just said ‘I’ll just come back when I’m 100 per cent’ instead of coming back and going again.

“The March internationals could be [a great chance] if it did come into my hands. I am ready for it. I have to step up and do what I do best.”

If this schedule holds true then Chelsea are in for a big boost since after the international break, the Blues take on the likes of Sheffield United, Wolves and Liverpool plus their rescheduled game vs City will also fall in this period. And to have Tammy Abraham back to full fitness for all these key encounters would mean a lot for Lampard and his planning.
