‘Chelsea are too stingy’- Rio Ferdinand reveals why Tuchel is so stingy

Former United player Rio Ferdinand has hailed Thomas Tuchel for transforming Chelsea to a stingy side that don’t concede goals.

However, The Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has seen enough of Chelsea to believe that the Blues are one of the teams to beat, not only in the Premier League but in Europe as well.

He also conceded that Chelsea play like a machine, and the addition of Romelu Lukaku has made them unplayable.

Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel: “Chelsea are a concern if you’re trying to win the league,”

“Any of the teams like Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool will be looking at Chelsea and thinking they look strong, they look solid, they look like they have weapons all over the pitch.

“One of the biggest factors they are stingy, they don’t concede goals now. They’ve got the best clean sheet record since Tuchel took over in the whole league, they’ve got best defensive record in terms of goals conceded.

“He’s making them a machine, they look like a team that can play ugly. They could be abymsal on the day then Lukaku will come up with two goals.

“Yesterday [the 3-0 win against Aston Villa] he fed off two mistakes from Mings, fed off it. He’s now – I don’t care – he’s one of the best no.9s in the world, fact, no debating it.

“You talk about Kane, Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Benzema, Lukaku is dancing in that ring with them. When he went to Serie A and you win the team there as the talisman you’re up there.

“When he left United he left under a bit of a cloud and he wasn’t in that conversation at the time but now he’s up there with them.
