Chelsea board sent message about getting shock striker deal done

Chelsea club legend Pat Nevin has warned the Blues against making a move for Karim Benzema.

There has been alot of transfer speculation regarding the club over the past few months, as many believe that a new striker will make the move too Stamford Bridge at some point this transfer window.

Some big names have been linked with a move to London – but so has the name of Karim Benzema – who decided to ditch European football just six months ago and make the move to Saudi Arabian football for the money.

But according to L’Equipe, the striker is expected to stay in Saudi Arabia despite the recent rumours., and the report adds that those around the 36-year-old say he feels good and will remain with Al-Ittihad

Now – amid all the speculation – Pat Nevin has told warned the club against making a move for the man: ‘How many times have Chelsea gone down that route of signing an experienced striker,” he told OCB Scores.

“You think of the certain strikers that CHELSEA have signed in the latter stages of their career, the likes of Shevchenko, I could go through a number of them. They’re all brilliant but very few of them scored a lot of goals for the club.

“Evan Ferguson would be the more obvious one to go for. If you’re going down the route of signing a young striker, Ferguson would be the one I would look at. ‘
