Finally the transfer window set to be closed soon but lots of singings are still going on before the time runs out.
However, Marcel Lavinier has penned a deal with Tottenham Hotspurs’ youth side as the defender’s contract expired at Chelsea. The Blues decided not to extend his contract and the youngster finally secured a deadline day move to the North London club.
The 19-year-old was part of the quadruple-winning Chelsea youth side and went on to make 25 appearances for them. His display for the under-18s earned him a professional contract for two years back in 2018.
In 2019, Lavinier made his debut for the Chelsea under-23s and was part of their Premier League 2 winning squad. But the former England youth international will now be joining his new club and make an impression out there. He joined the Blues as a seven-year-old boy and it was an emotional day for him.
The player posted on Instagram about his move, stating his sadness about leaving his boyhood club.
“This isn’t easy for me to say as this is the only club I’ve known for the past 12 years of my career. I want to thank all the staff & coaches at Chelsea for their help and developing me into the player I am today.
“It’s time for me to take the next step in my career and I wish everyone at Chelsea FC the very best in the future. You’ll always have a place in my heart,” Lavinier wrote.
Spurs were short of a defender for their u-23s as Jonathan Dinzeyi joined Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.
