Chelsea winger Willian has opened the door to a shock move to Tottenham Hotspur by saying that staying in London after this season would appeal to him and his family while also speaking of his friendship with Jose Mourinho.
The Brazilian is out of contract at Chelsea next month and talks over a new deal have not progressed since he has asked for a long-term extension. Chelsea have a policy of offering only one-year extensions to players over the age of 30.
“I like London and my family likes it too but that’s a question I don’t know how to answer,” he replied when asked about his future in an interview with Bolivia Talk Show.
“I don’t know which club I’m going to or if I’m staying here at Chelsea or if I’m leaving to another London club or if I’m leaving England, that’s something I don’t know.”
He has always got on well with Mourinho, who made the surprise move to North London when Mauricio Pochettino was sacked in November, but insisted they have not discussed a potential transfer.
“We do have a good relationship, he’s a big friend of mine,” Willian added. “We speak to each other sometimes but when it comes to that [speaking about transfers] he respects me a lot.”
