Chelsea eye 44-year-old manager set to depart current club

When Mauricio Pochettino steps down as Chelsea manager at the end of the current campaign, a new name has come to light as a possible successor. Although the Chelsea board will want to see Mauricio Pochettino and his team make major progress between now and May, a dismissal does not appear to be imminent.

They currently sit 11th in the Premier League. Chelsea already missed one opportunity to take home a trophy this year, losing to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

Consequently, Chelsea has been associated with a number of managers. Though he’s not the only name, rumors says that Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim also on the Blues’ radar. Xavi of Barcelona also seems to be a player the team likes.

THE BLUES ARE INTERESTED IN XAVI

According to HITC Chelsea is showing their interest in Xavi. It might not be too difficult to appoint him this summer. This is because the legend has declared his intention to leave Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.

“I had taken days ago but today was the moment to announce it,”. Xavi said in a press conference in January as he confirmed his plans to depart the Spotify Camp Nou.

“I don’t want to be a problem. I want to be a solution for Barca as I was two years ago.”

SHOULD CHELSEA REPLACE MAURICIO POCHETTINO WITH XAVI?
In the event that Chelsea decides to fire Pochettino, the Blues might want to give Xavi some thought.
Although still relatively young as a manager, the 44-year-old has led Barcelona to the La Liga championship the previous season and has done a respectable job.

Although their performances in Europe under his leadership can undoubtedly be questioned, Chelsea shouldn’t be concerned about European football at the moment—or at least not with the Champions League.
