Chelsea finally decide £70m midfielder to partner Enzo next season – journalist reveals

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea have decided that they want to make Moises Caicedo their number one target to strengthen the midfield this summer.

He claimed on his Substack that the Blues are set to make him a priority addition after this season has come to and end.

It isn’t the first time that the club have been linked with the addition of Caicedo. They made an effort to sign him back in January.

However, the month ended with him signing a new contract with the side who have recently qualified for European competition for the first time in their history.

Chelsea want Caicedo

Roberto de Zerbi recently admitted that he wouldn’t be unable to keep hold of a lot of his important players going into next season, mentioning the Ecuadorian by name.

Now, Phillips has claimed that the midfielder has been determined as the club’s number one target for that position.

The Blues are looking for a long-term partner for current star Enzo Fernandez. Chelsea smashed their transfer record in January to bring him in.

The club have been extremely impressed with the World Cup winner’s performances since he joined the club, with Frank Lampard even naming him the future of Chelsea a few weeks’ ago.

However, it is widely accepted that a partner who compliments his skillset is required in order to get the best of his abilities for the future.

Caicedo has been joined on the shortlist by Romeo Lavia, who was recently relegated as part of a Southampton side which beat Chelsea on both occasion this season.
