Chelsea given huge boost in pursuit of Moussa Dembele as Lyon finds replacement

The Blues have been given a huge boost in the pursuit of Moussa Dembele as Lyon reportedly finds a replacement in AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek.

Frank Lampard is keen on signing a proven goalscorer in January to provide competition for Tammy Abraham in Chelsea’s attack.

Lyon, however, have been adamant that Dembele, who scored 14 goals in 28 games across all competitions, won’t leave the club in the January transfer window.

According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Lyon have secured a loan deal for Villarreal striker Karl Toko Ekambi, giving the Blues a huge boost in the pursuit of Dembele.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also reportedly in the race for the Frenchman and have even been rumoured to send scouts to watch him in action.

However, Chelsea are understood to be frontrunners in any potential race which is likely to last until the final days of the January transfer window.

Lyon’s signing of Ekambi from Villarreal could mean Rudi Garcia’s side will be willing to let Dembele make the move to Chelsea during the January transfer window.
