The agent of Alisson Becker is thought to be in talks with Chelsea, but that’s not to say we’re the favourites to secure his services this summer.
As the days pass, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that Thibaut Courtois will remain a Chelsea player.
He has a year left to run on his contract, and a move to Real Madrid, to reunite with his family, would be hard for him to turn down.
We’re not entirely against the idea of letting him go, assuming that we replace him with another top goalkeeper.
Alisson is one of few who could actually prove to be an improvement on Courtois long-term. By the looks of things, Chelsea are keen.
Sky Italy’s Angelo Mangiante claims that, while Chelsea remain in talks with Alisson’s agent, Liverpool are leading the race.
The Reds are prepared to cough-up the cash to sign him, which isn’t surprising considering Loris Karius is their current number one.
Our friends over at Empire of the Kop didn’t hold back in with their evaluation of their goalkeeping situation. They write, RE: Karius…
“He needs to be replaced. It’s as simple as that. It’s time for Liverpool to pay whatever money is necessary to get this sorted out. Us fans have had enough.”
Unfortunately, our desperation will be comparable if Courtois departs. Alisson is thought to be valued in the region of €70M. It’s steep, but we may not have a choice but to pay it.
