The Spaniard becomes a free agent on Thursday as his contract with Real Madrid expires on June 30. He has already confirmed his departure from Santiago Bernabeu.
Chelsea were rumoured to be looking at centre-back options, as four of their current players in that position (Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta) might become free agents next year already.
