Chelsea may finally agree deal to sign ‘fantastic’ player next week – Fabrizio Romano confirms

Chelsea could finally agree a deal next week to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

That is according to transfer expect Fabrizio Romano.

There’s been a lot of transfer speculation in recent times regarding Moises Caicedo’s potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Simon Phillips, who was reporting on his Substack earlier this week, claimed that Chelsea remain in talks for Caicedo and the deal is “moving positively”. Apparently, Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino would like the 21-year-old Brighton star signed in time for the pre-season tour of the United States.

Now, it sounds like Chelsea could soon reach a conclusion in their attempts to sign the defensive midfielder.

Romano has explained that Chelsea continue to work on the Caicedo transfer, with the player already agreeing to make the move to West London.

It’s now up to the two Premier League clubs to agree and negotiate the deal, but he adds that the transfer “could” be done next week.

When speaking about Chelsea’s interest in Caicedo on the ‘Here We Go Podcast’ yesterday, Romano said: “Direct conversation with Brighton, so more than sending an official bid every day it’s about discussing and trying to find a way together.

“Brighton know that Moises Caicedo wants to go, Brighton know every well since February that Moises Caicedo signed a new deal but he had the green light from Roberto De Zerbi to leave in the summer.

“Let’s say that they will try to find a solution altogether to make this happen.

“Of course, Caicedo has already said yes to Chelsea. It’s still not agreed between clubs, but could be next week. Let’s see what happens next days.

“For sure, Chelsea are very convinced by Moises Caicedo. He’s the top target.”

Described as “fantastic” by Graham Potter last year (The Argus), Caicedo is the priority for Chelsea and the player they’re really trying to get through the doors.

It’s imperative that the Blues sign a top-class defensive midfielder for Pochettino’s squad. In our view, Caicedo does tick that box.

The Brighton ace is an all-action midfielder with the athleticism and aggression that saw him excel in the Premier League last season.
