Chelsea midfielder wants to complete move away from the club

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has set his sights on a move away from the club on loan to continue his development.

Speaking about his future, as reported by the Daily Record, Gilmour explained that seeing the current crop of Chelsea youngsters enjoy success away from the club has put things into perspective for him.

Jake Clarke-Salter and Fikayo Tomori are out just now at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland and at Derby County. Tammy Abraham is at Aston Villa and Mason Mount is another at Derby and he has just been called into the full England squad.

They’re all going out and doing their thing, whether it’s scoring or keeping clean sheets, and it’s working for them. I played Under-18s last year to settle in. Now I’ve moved up to Under-23 and will try to kick on. I’ll take it bit by bit.

Gilmour is very highly thought of at Stamford Bridge and has impressed since arriving from Rangers at a young age.

The midfielder has been ever-present for the club’s acedemy sides and recently made the step up to the U23s.

He was also named among the top 60 prospects in world football earlier this season, which shows just how highly he is rated.

Still only 17 years of age, Gilmour is likely to see out of the current season with Chelsea before heading out on loan to senior football in the next campaign.
