Chelsea player named on FIFA World XI shortlist

N’Golo Kante has been nominated for a place in the FIFA World XI.

The Chelsea midfielder kept up his consistent series of excellent seasons, helping Chelsea to a third place finish in the Premier League, as well as a Europa League win and a Carabao Cup final.

He was played in a more attacking role by Maurizio Sarri, and it paid off for the former Leicester man, who racked up more goals and assists than ever.

It’s no surprise to see Kante counted among the top players on the continent, as the Premier League overthrew La Liga’s dominance.

The Sun reported that 21 Premier League players were up for a place in the team, 1 more than La Liga’s 20.

That was more down to Tottenham and Liverpool in the Champions League than anything we did, but we did our bit by winning Europe’s second tier trophy.

Hopefully our return to the top table this year will see us hold down a few more spots next year.
