Chelsea player receives all his money after court case–Took legal action over unpaid bonus
Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos is finally done with his legal action against former club Vasco da Gama.
That’s reported by Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, who say the Rio de Janeiro club settled their debt with the player.
It’s recalled that Andrey Santos sued the club because of a renewal bonus he was never paid, worth a total of £122k. There was a legal agreement to split that payment in instalments, and Vasco have just sent him the final part.
The reason the Brazilian club didn’t pay the midfielder at first is because that agreement had been made in September 2022, when he renewed his contract.
Since he ended up being sold to Chelsea in January 2023, they probably thought he would not ask for that money. He and his agents decided to go to court, though.
Chelsea spent €12.5m to sign Andrey Santos. They first loaned him back to Vasco, then to Nottingham Forest and now to Strasbourg. He only has four appearances for the French side so far, and it doesn’t seem likely that the Blues will have a first team sport for him next season.
