According to Daily Mail, Chelsea will go head-to-head with Barcelona in the race to sign Porto defender Alex Telles this summer.
Signing a left-back is a priority for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard after losing faith in Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.
Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell is Lampard’s first-choice target for left-back but the Blues will reportedly not pursue a move for Chilwell due to Leicester’s huge price-tag.
Leicester want around £82 million for Chilwell while Porto’s Telles, who is out of contract in 2021, would cost in the region of £36m at the end of the season as Porto look to avoid losing him for free.
Barcelona are also keen on signing Telles but the Blues won’t be put off by Barcelona’s interest, with owner Roman Abramovich determined to back Lampard after two frustrating transfer windows.
