Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has been nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 award.
Though Chelsea endured a difficult campaign last time around, Hazard was still a shining light. It was a surprise that Willian beat him to the players’ player of the year award.
Hazard was forced to play with the handbrake on by manager Antonio Conte. Thankfully that will not be the case under Maurizio Sarri’s stewardship.
Roberto Martinez allowed Hazard more freedom at the World Cup – and he thrived. That’s likely the reason for his nomination for this award.
Hazard is nominated alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Antoine Griezmann, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Luka Modric, Mohamed Salah and Raphael Varane.
He can’t be considered one of the favourites to win it. Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe are undoubtedly the frontrunners, but he’s brushing shoulders with the best!
It seems likely he’ll be nominated for the Ballon D’Or too.
