Chelsea star reveals what happened in dressing room after 2-2 draw against Sheffield United as Poch drops Cole Palmer injury update

Following the match with Sheffield United, Noni Madueke concedes that the Chelsea locker room was “silent,” while Mauricio Pochettino has provided an update on Cole Palmer’s injury.

The Blues’ awful season continued as they conceded a goal in the 93rd minute and were held to a 2-2 draw against the team at the bottom of the league.

Pochettino was incensed by the outcome, criticizing the maturity of his players and speculating that it would take him till 2029 to resolve the issues facing the west London club.

Madueke has now spoken out about the players’ emotions following their dismal showing at Bramall Lane.

‘Silent [in the dressing room] to be honest,’ Chelsea star Madueke told the BBC. ‘Of course we should have won the game. The way we drop points sometimes, it was in the palm of our hands.

‘There is still games to go, we have to stick together and I have faith we can finish in the places we want to finish in. There is some positives for sure, but this is our Achilles heel, the next game after a top result – we haven’t been able to do well in that department so far.’

Meanwhile, Pochettino has provided an update on Palmer – Chelsea’s best player this season by a mile – after he was subbed off and replaced in the 74th minute.

Asked if Palmer had picked up an injury in his post-match press conference, Pochettino said: ‘No, no, no. I think he was tired.

‘My feeling was he was tired. Carney [Chukwuemeka] is another number 10 who can play there and do the job.

‘We need to protect him. He got a knock against Manchester United and was a bit more tired than normal. We wanted to protect him after scoring the second goal – trying to avoid a problem in the future.’
