According to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after agreeing personal terms with his new club.
The report claims the France international has agreed a two year deal with Inter Milan with an option of a third year. Giroud’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and the 33 year old Frenchman is now set to leave Stamford Bridge as a free agent at the end of the season.
Inter Milan tried to sign Giroud during the January transfer window but Chelsea were reluctant to let the striker leave as we were unable to sign a replacement.
Chelsea had reportedly started talks with the Frenchman after he impressed during Tammy Abraham’s absence, scoring goals against Tottenham and Everton in the Premier League just before the season was suspended due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Giroud revealed last month that he was keen on leaving Chelsea in January after failing to get much game time at the club during the first half of the season.
Speaking to French outlet Telefoot, Giroud said: “To be honest, I saw myself playing elsewhere.
“I had six tough months, which is why I wanted a change of scene to get back to playing and enjoying myself on the pitch, so I tried to leave in January.”
