Chelsea to make announcement as striker to complete medical on Monday
Chelsea are all set to announce that Olivier Giroud is departing the club as he heads to Italy to complete his medical.
Giroud has been a very good squad member for Chelsea over the past few seasons and has been a player that the club can rely on in the tightest of games.
However, with all the speculation that Thomas Tuchel is keen to add another striker to the squad, the German boss needs to make space in the squad and sell a few fringe players.
Girouds exit could be confirmed as early as next week with reports in Italy claiming that he is set to undergo a medical with AC Milan on Monday.
Furthermore, it is understood that Giroud will also sign a two-year deal with the Rossoneri after they finally reached an agreement with the Blues regarding a transfer fee.
The report states that Chelsea have accepted €1m (£859k) plus another €1m (£859k) in rather difficult to complete performance-related bonuses, meaning the overall deal could reach £1.7m.
Speaking to RMC Sport, as per SempreMilan, last month, Giroud did hint at AC Milan being his next stop after leaving Chelsea amid Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s plea.
Ibrahimovic wants me at AC Milan? It’s always a pleasure to hear Zlatan say this kind of things, I’ll take it as an extra motivation,” he said.
“My future? I don’t want to talk about it, Milan is certainly an option among other ones.”
